Miss Seeing Everyone | Adventure in Staying Home in New Orleans

How is everyone doing? I always thought that if I ever had downtime I would start cleaning like a madwoman and my life look like Marie Kondo’s Instagram feed. At the moment, that is not happening.  We are staying home, attempting to homeschool, baking too much,  and keeping in touch with our older relatives via technology. The good news is that the days are passing, we just checked off week 2 of homeschooling and survived!

As of now my Spring Sessions are postponed and all portrait sessions will be rescheduled to a later date. I’ll announce when I know we can move forward. If you have any questions about a session you signed up for, or for an individual session, please don’t hesitate to contact me. If you’ve missed my attempt to reach out, always feel free to contact me. The good news is there is no bad time to photograph your child, so I hope to see all of you VERY soon.

During my 10th year in business I hope to do a shout out to some women-run businesses I have long admired. This seems like an especially good time to bring attention to some of the wonderful small businesses in New Orleans. Today I’m sending out a virtual hello out to the Therapeutic Learning Center!

Therapeutic Learning Center

Last year I had the distinct honor of being the staff photographer for the Heart & Sole Prom held by the Therapeutic Learning Center and Magnolia Community Services. It was a beautiful event filed with lots of laughter, hugs and parents with tears as they watched their children dance together. It was my first glimpse into TLC’s passion of providing a safe and nurturing environment for learning through occupational, speech and physical therapy. Unfortunately this year’s prom has been postponed do to the Coronavirus, but I know it will be a great success again when we start to unpause our lives.

Owner and founder Jenny Domiano also had me drop by to document their intimate space, compassionate and fun staff and the warm ambiance of this practice on Metairie Rd. in Old Metairie. They are continuing to see client’s through tele-therapy and offering virtual homework tutoring. I highly recommend you like their Facebook page or join their email list and stay in touch. They have been posting great tips on what to do at home with your kids and theirupcoming Summer programs. I know I can’t wait to get my son in the “Picky Eaters” class!

And one last shout out if you have been cooking and baking at home a little more than usual like my family. This is one of my favorite places for recipes and dinner ideas as the home cooking ramps up to record speed. Most recipes are low-sugar (a struggle in my house) and delicious. I can’t say enough about Ambitious Kitchen founder and new mom Monique  who I have been girl-crushing on for some time now. I hope your family is healthy and sane in the coming weeks!
