Well, this has been an interesting week for all of us. Like everyone else, I’ve been navigating homeschooling and an altered family life for the past week. Keeping organized has always been my strategy for difficult changes. That’s easier said than done with two children who also don’t know how to process their new normal. But we forge ahead by making our beds every morning, getting dressed and joining Google Hangouts like pros. My thanks to everyone who has posted their model schedules. They have been a huge help!
A bit of news on Spring Sessions. Understandably, Longue Vue Gardens and the Botanical Gardens are on coronavirus closure until further notice. My Spring Sessions will be rescheduled to a later date I’ll announce when I know we can move forward. If you have any questions about a session you signed up for, or for an individual session, please don’t hesitate to contact me. If you’ve missed my attempt to reach out, always feel free to contact me. I’m here to help, even if it’s just to share ideas on keeping the kids from going insane. The good news is there is no bad time to photograph your child, so I hope to see all of you soon!
As part of my 10th year of business, I hope to share and celebrate some of the local women-owned and run businesses that I admire. Now it seems even more important to recognize and support small businesses.
My first business shout-out is to a wonderful woman named Madeline Thibodeaux who runs Kindermusik with Madeline in New Orleans. Over the past week, Madeline has done an incredible shift, moving all of her classes online. She’s also offering unlimited online classes (ages 0-7 years) for the duration of the school’s physical closure, $85 for four weeks. Once you sign up, you’ll be emailed a link to the online classroom.
If you need something to do at home with your little ones, I highly recommend you try this class. What could be better to break up a monotonous day stuck at home doing schoolwork than to immerse your kids in a musical experience? My son has been in Madeline’s Kindermusik since he was 1-year old, and I have enjoyed every moment of him sitting in my lap and singing and tapping along. Madeline’s ability to keep the attention of every child (and parent) and gently lead them in a learning activity is a gift. Not to mention her ninja-like ability to remember every child’s name in every class.
I hope you reach out to her and take a look!

Madeline also homeschools her two children (all the time, not just during this crisis) and is giving lots of support and creative ideas to transition into homeschooling on her Instagram. Make sure to follow her at: https://www.instagram.com/kmwithmadeline/
One thing about this latest disaster situation is that we’re all in it together, really all of us. And we will get through it together.
