My daughter’s first dance class was when she was 3, and it was adorable! Wearing a tutu and clonking around in tap shoes, I couldn’t stop smiling at her. I was fortunate enough to live down the street at the time from an incredible entrepreneur, Nikki Miner, who was starting a dance studio called City Park Movement & Art. I quickly signed my daughter up thinking it would be a fun activity one day a week.
Fast forward 10 years later, and I have a daughter passionate and driven about dance and attending classes 4-5 nights a week. It was Nikki’s unbridled joy watching her students grow in strength and self-confidence that has instilled a love of dance in my daughter. And it’s not just dance, there is a reason they win multiple Best Of New Orleans categories every year including best summer camp, art program, toddler program, and ballet and tap.
The in-person dance classes are currently on hold, but Ms. Nikki and her team are shifting to online classes and videos for dance and art, providing all their students with a much needed reminder that their community is still very much there.
