Year 13 of my Photo-a-Day project is here—and it feels lucky. Maybe it’s because I’m now living with two teens in spirit, even if they’re technically 17 and 11. Or perhaps it’s the thrill of hearing them both say, “yes, keep doing your July project,” just when I was tempted to bow out.
Every July, I challenge myself to document the magic of my kids as they grow, change, and surprise me. And for as long as they’ll let me, I’ll keep following them with a camera in hand.
Six years apart and growing in such different directions, they’re each wholly their own. Magnolia swears they don’t look alike—but I see it. In their smiles, in the way their brows lift when they’re deep in thought.
Thirteen years of showing up daily with my lens has turned these July albums into something more than just photos—they’re love letters to a fleeting childhood. I’m so grateful for every moment I’ve captured.
Whatever 2025 brings, we’re stepping into it with sun-soaked skin and waterlogged joy—sprinklers, shorelines, and the sweet rhythm of summer.
