The talented dancers of City Park Movement & Art put on a breathtaking show at Le Petite Theater in the French Quarter that embraced the sweet nuances between young dancers and talented young ladies who performed on point for the first time. Under the direction of Nikki Miner, owner and teacher at CPMA, the choreography reached a new hight for their annual twist on the traditional Nutcracker. With a New Orleans soundtrack, the dancers created a Rockettes-esque row of high kicks, a jazz interpretive dance inspired by the likes of Martha Graham and the little Frostys, Hulu dancers, Dolls and Mice performed with few missteps. Backstage the littlest dancers squealed in excitement and exclaimed how nervous they were. The Juniors and Seniors reassured them it would all turn out well, holding themselves like the seasoned dancers they have become. I look forward to this event every year! Congratulations to the dancers and instructors of City Park Movement & Art for inspiring an audience.
