New Orleans Family Photography Location Spotlight | The Pitot House
One of my all time favorite locations for family photos in New Orleans is the historic Pitot House in Bayou St. John. When I walk onto their grounds I am immediately taken out of a bustling city and find myself taking a deep breath to find relief from the ever-present hurried day. The front gardens are filled with butterflies to chase, brick pathways and fruit trees. Both of the wrap around porches, on the first and second floor, speak to a time of lazy afternoons watching the boats go by on the neighboring bayou.
The color pallet of the house compliments almost every outfit, with a clean dark green and beige. And the light surrounds the house in the late-afternoon with a whimsy. Needless to say I’m smitten. That’s why I go out of my way each season to curate a private event that will provide this gorgeous backdrop to families. It is truly a one-of-a-kind landmark in New Orleans.
Contact me to schedule a private session at the historic home, or keep your eye open in the Spring and the Fall for a Twirl Photography mini-session event. VIP’s get first dibs when dates open so make sure to join the Twirl newsletter here:

My goal when photographing families is to create timeless, emotive, and joyous images. I love incorporating our beautiful New Orleans scenery and golden sunsets to help capture authentic moments. Sessions take place an hour or so before sunset for the most beautiful light. If you are interested in more information on maternity, newborn or family photography click here!
