RACE + RELIGIOUS
There have been many weddings held at Race + Religious over the years, but a little know fact is that it is also the perfect New Orleans location for family photos.
Named for the corner street it sits on in the Lower Garden District, this three-building property is filled with antiques and art work curated by the property owner’s Bille and Granville Semmes (Granville Semmes was the founder of 1-800-flowers). For 30 years, the residence was their home as they slowly renovated the property. In the last decade, it has transitioned into become one of the most unique event venues in the country.
The Greek Revival rowhouse leads to a brick courtyard, surrounded by lush flora, gas lamps and a pool. Each corner of this property is charming for family photos, filled with exposed brick and peeling plaster. Inside, the rooms are layered with whimsical artwork (both hung and painted directly onto the ceilings and walls) and three floors to explore. This is a great place to dress in your fanciest outfits for a special family portrait. Pets are also welcome to come along to your portrait session!
Family sessions are only available on weekdays with a photo permit required. Street parking is fairly easy to find although the surrounding streets can get quite busy with trucks so use extra caution with little ones. This unique New Orleans property is located across the street from the Monkey Room and near Mardi Gras World.
