Summers are important markers in a child’s life, even more so during extraordinary times. This summer, I know, will be one my children remember. There has been more outdoor time, family time, less structured time, stormy afternoons, languid evenings. We are also discussing heavy subjects such as racism, pandemics and how their normal daily life has shifted dramatically, with no end date in sight.
You can’t go back to your childhood, but you can relive it through pictures. Think about what you would want your children to remember from this summer. As I inch back into the world and reconnect with families for outdoor sessions, I’m determined to document this time for families.
Early evening sessions capture the golden light of summer sunsets in beautiful New Orleans parks, bayous and lakefronts. And while the world slows down, classic scenes of summer are prime for a unique photo session: backyard swimming pools, sun-kissed cheeks, melting popsicles, doing high jumps over sprinklers, chubby little hands splashing in their first baby pool, holding sparklers on the Fourth and sandy toes on the shore.
