Betsy and Sadie

Much has been said about the challenges of raising children in New Orleans, a place that seems to have its share of risks, with hurricanes and other dysfunction, and where finding great – and affordable – child care and education options can be an uncertain endeavor. But when I walked around the French Quarter with Betsy, 4, Sadie, 3, and their lovely parents, I was reminded what an amazing place this is. So rich in history, culture and ambience. We talked about Jazz Fest, Mardi Gras and deciding to stay and raise families in this city after Hurricane Katrina. It’s not always an easy decision, but where else will a child grow up waving for beads from multiple passing parades, eating mudbugs and dancing to the festive sounds of brass bands marching by. Thanks Sadie and Betsy.
