Picturing Magnolia

I love photographing my daughter being my daughter. She’s a big fan of wearing tutus, holding impromptu tea parties, and her devotion to our dog Stella is endless amusement. I try to keep my camera close so I don’t miss these adorable, hilarious and tremendously sweet moments. I also can’t express how much fun it is to do an impromptu photo session with your child. It’s a great way to spend a little one-to-one time. Here’s the trick to getting a good picture of your child no matter what camera you are using. Find a big window with nice light and an empty wall. Sit your child down on a chair right next to the window, face them so the light is hitting them from the side and the empty wall is behind them. Then tell them to make silly faces. Take lots of pictures. If you’re using a digital camera, you can erase what you don’t like. And don’t worry about getting everything just right. Sometimes it’s the mistakes that make the best pictures. Send me a link to the pictures you create. I’d love to see them.
